Overview

According to the American Society of Addiction Medicine, in 2016 drug overdose was the leading cause of accidental death in the United States, with 20,101 overdose deaths related to prescription pain relievers; and 12,990 overdose deaths related to heroin in 2015. Medication-Assisted treatment (MAT) can be an extremely effective way to address these overdose deaths by helping people with opioid use disorder achieve successful recovery. Learn how to help your patients by implementing a MAT program in your emergency department.

  • Recognize the ED is an optimal location to address opioid use disorder
  • Increase awareness on how and why MAT is effective
  • Learn how to implement a MAT program in your ED
  • Obtain access to numerous tools and resources

This program is intended for hospital administrators, emergency department staff and hospital behavioral health service line.
